| Course Description |
Many LCA guitarists are now becoming advanced musicians. This class is designed to be an intensive ensemble class. Students will be collaborating with each other, as well as, other instrumentalists from LCA to perform various music styles from classical to modern. Students will also be expected to arrange music for a church music ensemble, whether that be a worship team or instrumental group. Other stringed instruments will be encouraged, like bass, orchestral strings, mandolin, banjo, and even electric guitar.
Students must audition or discuss their playing level with Mrs. Davis. Tablature and Chord reading are required. Standard notation reading preferred as well. Homework time expected: 1-2 hours per week

Guitar is one of the most versatile instruments for anyone to learn and students in my class will gain the essential tools needed to play guitar for a variety of situations. Whether they want to strum chords for their favorite praise or pop songs, play Christmas melodies for family at the holidays, or experience the fun of playing in an ensemble, they’ll experience it all in my guitar class. We work on reading chords, tabs, and basic music notation. Students will also perform in two LCA concerts. Guitarists will need an acoustic guitar, a capo, and a music folder.
Homework time expected: 1-2 hours per week

| Course Description |
One of the top fears for most people is public speaking. I have taught this class for 3 years, and in those years, I have seen students gain confidence in their ability to stand in front of their peers and present on topics they love. For this upcoming year, we will be doing the usual requirements of various informative and persuasive speeches with some exciting additions. Students in class will have weekly practice speaking in front of their peers through fun speaking prompts and challenges. New for 2025 will be guest speakers from area professionals sharing their top tips for successful presentations, interviews, and communication skills.
