Course Description

This course is for students who want to explore the art and technique of photography. We will begin by covering the basics of photography, including camera settings, lighting, and exposure. We will also study the elements of composition to help students develop a strong visual style. Throughout the course, we will examine examples from past photographers. Students will explore multiple genres of photography, including:

  • Action Photography – Capturing movement and energy
  • Landscape Photography – Both natural and urban environments
  • Portrait Photography – Expression through lighting and poses
  • Black & White Photography – Creating dramatic effects through contrast and structure
  • Journalistic Photography – How images can tell more powerful stories

 

Homework time expected: 1 hour per week

Course Description

Throughout the year, students will study a wide variety of writing genres, both creative and nonfiction. We will practice pre-writing exercises, strengthening the students’ creative thinking and organizational strategies. We will also study the revision process, including methods for rewriting, editing, and proofreading. Most of our class time will be spent either writing or reviewing our writing.

We will also explore Deaf culture, helping students understand the rich and diverse Deaf communityBy the end of the school year, students will be able to introduce themselves, have basic conversations, and maybe even teach their family some signs! ??
