Day(s) and Time(s) Friday 11:00-11:55
Campus Location Life Christian Academy
Course Description

Using Wanda Sanseri’s “Spell to Write and Read” curriculum (specifically its 29 Spelling Rule cards),  my goal for this course is to reinforce proper spelling for your 4th or 5th grader. I plan to do this through activities, using many example words to tie the spelling rules to daily life words/items, affirming them by writing their applicable examples on the board, encouraging class participation through interactive games, and sending a spelling word list of reinforcement examples home each week – (optional for parents if they choose to review with their children). This is a no stress class - but one that offers vital building blocks for spelling/reading/writing success – and is simply intended to help reinforce what you may have already taught your 4th and 5th grader.

Course Description

With the specific goal of providing a sort of “failsafe option” for 4th and 5th grade students who need to make sure their math fact foundation is solid before advancing further in their studies, this class will include timed math drills (addition/subtraction/multiplication/division) to encourage quick thinking and rapid recall; will cover place value, decimals, money math, measurements (and measurement converting), fractions, time and temperature reading – as well as basic and more complex word problem reading and solving.  My approach is to cultivate confidence in the math process and in the students’ learning abilities – for everyone enjoys what they are good at! – and also do it in a fun way that does not discourage students.
