Openings Limited Openings
Day(s) and Time(s) Friday 9:00-9:55
Campus Location Life Christian Academy
Course Description

In the Basics of Sewing I (for grades 6, 7 and 8) students will learn about basic mending, hand-sewing, embroidery, sewing machine equipment, and basic sewing techniques. They will create simple projects, such as pillowcases, oven mitts, aprons, shoulder bags, and — time permitting — more.

In addition to the $65 enrollment fee (per semester), there is a $25 supply fee (only for the first semester) which will cover basic supplies for the student. Students will be required to provide additional fabric for some of the larger projects towards the later part of the second semester. Some sewing machines will be provided; however, if students already have a sewing machine they are able to use, please contact me.

There will be an optional field trip toa fabric store toward the end of the second semester which will take place on a Saturday, include parents, teach students their way around a fabric store, and give students an opportunity to pick out their own fabric for their final project(s).

No experience is required for this class; it is open to students in grades 6, 7, and 8 who are eager to learn how to sew. However, parents are welcome to enroll in the class too!
