Course Description

Saxon Algebra 2 reviews and expands on topics learned in Algebra 1 and Geometry. Major topics include linear functions, matrices, polynomial and polynomial functions, rational and radical functions, linear systems, probability and statistics, quadratic functions, trigonometry, and exponential and logarithmic functions. This course lays the foundation for higher math. 

 

 

TEXTBOOKS REQUIRED: Saxon Algebra 2 4th Edition and Solutions Manual

 

Homework time expected: 4 hours per week

Course Description

Computer Science and computational problem solving are fundamental skills for engaging the 21st-century marketplace. The Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) CS1 curriculum is designed for students in 9th grade and higher with algebra readiness skills. In this course, students will be exposed to core computer science concepts in a visually fun and engaging manner. No prior programming experience is required. Students will be required to complete assignments at home with an internet capable personal computer (desktop, laptop, or chrome book recommended). Computer access during class time is also necessary, and LCA chrome books are available if needed.

 

Students will need access to internet, for CMU Academy. Personal computer at home for coursework and online instruction.

 

Homework time expected: 3-4 hours per week

Course Description

Come on an adventure with the Kratt brothers! In this class, taught with a creation worldview, we will watch an episode of Wild Kratts and then complete fun activities to learn more about the animal featured in that episode. Each student will receive a passport during the second class and will get stamps and stickers to fill it up throughout the year. In the past we have even welcomed some live creatures into our classroom for some hands-on learning.
