Tiffany Bailey

Students will learn about the US justice system by participating in a Mock Trial. Students will research and study a fictional court case and will act as the main characters in the courtroom. They will learn about courtroom procedures and the people and rights involved with the legal system. Students will have the opportunity to evaluate and prepare for both sides of the case. The culminating event will be held in the spring, where students will act as the main characters in the case. They will be assigned roles (lawyers or witnesses) and will compete against another group who has also studied the case. If possible, this event will be held in an actual courtroom with a judge. 

Textbook: There will be a one time $15 fee for the mock trial packet. The fee will be paid directly to the teacher at the beginning of first semester.

Homework time expected: 2-4 hours per week

Class is worth 1.0 credits.
