*Part-timers are welcome to join this class*

In this Precalculus class, students will hone and combine skills learned in algebra and geometry. Students will learn how to analyze and solve polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. Trig identities, matrices, analytical geometry, statistics, and a brief introduction to calculus will also be taught.

Note: Mrs. Hahn will be creating all new tests and quizzes this year. Therefore, the BJU test/quiz booklet will not need to be purchased. However, there will be a one-time $15 printing fee to cover the printing of the new tests and quizzes. This fee will be collected at the beginning of the school year with the remaining class fee balance

Prerequisites: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2

Required Books and Materials: (See links below) BJU Precalculus Student Text Second Edition, graphing calculator OR phone, protractor. (A phone is preferred over a calculator. We will be using the Desmos app quite often.)

Course Description

This lighter version of Geometry was created for those who may struggle with math or don't necessarily intend to pursue a STEM degree. Geometry Lite is designed to give students a high-level overview of Geometry that will tackle topics with real-life relevancy and application along with problems they may see on standardized testing. This class will be worth 1 high school Geometry credit.

Students must have successfully completed Algebra 1 to join this class.

Course Overview: During this course, your student will develop an understanding of God's design as a basis for reasoning and modeling in geometry by tackling real-world problems by creating and applying geometric models and calculating the measurements for both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional figures. Some proof logic will be discussed. Algebra 1 concepts will be reviewed and intertwined throughout the curriculum. Students will learn about lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, area, circles, surface area, volume, transformations, and symmetry.
